![]() BREASTFEEDING AND NATURAL FEEDING: CLIMATE-FRIENDLY ACTIONS!
As part of the activities of the XVth National Breastfeeding Meeting, the Vth National Healthy Complementary Feeding Meeting, the IIIrd World Breastfeeding Conference and the Ist World Complementary Feeding Conference, on Monday, November 11 at 3 pm we are going to give a symbolic hug to the statue of Christ the Redeemer, on the Corcovado, Tijuca Forest, Rio de Janeiro. We want to show everyone that breastfeeding and healthy complementary feeding are ecological acts. Breastmilk is a renewable, sustainable resource that does not pollute, that produces no waste, that avoids deforestation for dairy farming and breastfeeding is a source of love. Complementary healthy feeding is done with real food: natural, family-grown foods without the use pesticides that threaten biodiversity and not ultra-processed food. Breastfeeding mothers with their babies will join us there! Hugging the statue of Christ will symbolize our love for this wonderful city, for nature and our planet, so that future generations can have a healthy, quality life in a world of love and solidarity! For this event, we have the support of the Pastoral da Criança, the Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary and the Chico Mendes Socio-Environmental Institute. Come and join us!!!!! |

![]() Rio de Janeiro Declaration
THE RIO DE JANEIRO DECLARATION What it will be and what we expect from the "call to action" from this congress. The 15th ENAM and 5th ENACS are being held in Rio as an international breastfeeding meeting, the first in the Americas, called third World Breastfeeding Conference (3rd WBC). It will also be the launch of the first World Complementary Feeding Conference (1st WCFC). It will bring together participants from 62 countries and from all the states of Brazil. About 2400 participants will meet in plenary sessions, discussion groups, workshops, roundtables, poster sessions, oral summaries and other forms of expression. From each of these various sessions, note takers will pick out 2 or 3 essential conclusions and pass those on to the drafting committee that will work on the RIO DE JANEIRO DECLARATION. An editorial group has been assigned to take up the challenge of presenting in a single document, to be launched at the final plenary session, the strategic priorities that have emerged as consensus of the thousands of people, hundreds of groups, institutions and agencies of the United Nations system who participated in our congress. We expect the Rio de Janeiro Declaration to be a "call to action", a reference document continuously used as a basis for actions to protect, promote and support breastfeeding and healthy complementary feeding, as a tool in the struggle for the right to health and wellbeing of mothers and children all over the world. |
